Why should we (americans not from NOLA) agree to spend billions upgrading the levees when the NOLA government doesn't even enact its own disaster plans?
The simple fact is NOLA has the most corrupt government in America and the residents either like it that way or are too stupid to change it. I figure it must be the second since Nagin was reelected. Given that any money going to rebuilding or improving the levees will most likely go torwards the mistresses and dealers of NOLA politicans I personally think NOLA should have to come up with the rest of the rebuilding money. The rest of america has already spent billions just t watch y'all burn it in corruption and embezzlement.
SO Screw NOLA. its been over a year and you people still won't get off your asses to help yourselves. Despite being a city which is still majority black, most of those working in the rebuilding are mexicans. This despite ther fact that wages in NOLA are substansially higher than in the rest of the country. Most "refugees" haven't even attempted to get back on thier feet, content to live off FEMA and charity handouts, and constantly complaining about how bad thier lives are.
Well no shit, you haven't done jack to i,prove it.
I am so sick of orleanians bitching about being abondoned. It took years to rebuild so-fla after hurricane andrew and you know what? It is still going on in some places. But the vast majority was done quickly because floridians actually believe in GETTING UP OF THIER ASSES AND DOING FOR THEMSELVES.
I think the best thing we can do for NOLA is nothing at all. It time you lazy leeches actually did something for oyurselves for once, and if not and NOLA becomes a ghosttown?
Then even better, we have a ready made cautionary tale of wehat happens when people abdicate thier lives and responsibillities to governments.

Hey, Bozeaux--the FEDS control the levees. The Army Corps of Engineers. You may have heard of them. They've not done their job for some decades now.
